Snow

At last it started to snow and didn't stop for the whole season! We only had 2 rainy days and they turned to snow. This was a gum tree near the house.

Dinner Plain Lift (aka Mount Beattie)

The little village we lived in which was about 20 mins away from the main town of Hotham was called Dinner Plain and had it's own little lift which was great for beginners. Mark made this his own little office and grew very comfortable in the cafe in front of the fire.

Hotham Village

Hotham is a bit strange in the fact that all the buildings and shops are at the top of the hill and you have to ski down at the start of the day and get a lift back up at the end of the day.

Ropers

Looks cute but this is the coldest house in the world! Nice to see Nick doing the housework again.

Getting our uniforms

Wandering around Hotham before the snow meant we had time to get all our kit together before work started.

Was this a good idea?

OK this wood was free, but took the lads about 3 weeks to get it into small enough sizes so they could get it into the house! Might have been a bit quicker if Mark could have helped, but he was moaning about a sore shoulder??

Nick & Jules

Great news that Nick is a chef, so have eaten well all season! Also learnt a few cooking tips, no more packet mixes for me. And all in the name of a good photo I ended up getting splatted by this snowball for this shot!

Me & Jules

I look surprisingly good considering I have just had a big dose of travel sickness thanks to Ryans driving!

The Snow Gums

Arrived in Hotham in a storm, only for the snow to all melt and give us 3 weeks of getting to know you time with our housemates...took a trip down the hill to the closest town - BRIGHT - and the views of the way back were stunning. The mountains here are much more like Scotland than NZ, older and more rounded.

Here in Hotham!

Sharks!

Well when in Oz.... this tank was huge, and it was quite eerie watching the sharks circling above my head.

Deadly Frog

Not exactly a fish, but this is the frog my dad used to tell me about when I was a kid, so poisonous that you could die by looking at it, well not quite, but you wouldn't want to meet it in the jungle! I was obviously so nervous that I took a blurred picture of it.

Plant or Animal

This amazing fish (a relative of the seahorse) looks jusy like a piece of seaweed! Amazing!

Aquariums of the world Cont:-

Welcome to Oz, and of course Melbourne Aquarium!!
